WATCHMANSHIP
EZEKIEL 3:17
[NKJV] — “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:
[TLV] — “Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from My mouth, give them a warning from Me."
Though the role is "Role of a Watchman," the job description has more to do with "Hearing" than "Looking or Keeping Eyes Open." When the Lord said, "Watch and Pray," He did not mean keep open your eyes while praying, but means keep attentive, listening or hearing ears and praying mouth. Hearing is closer to faith than sighting is to faith.
"He who has ear, hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches, even when that is coming from His Watchmen."
In the Bible verse above, God appointed Ezekiel to become His Watcher to the house of Israel. It used to be divine role for angels only in the antediluvian ages, and many of the fallen angels that married the daughters of men were previously "Watchers."
In that role as “Watchman” the son of man or Ezekiel only had to concentrate on watching out for what God is saying basically; not watching out for what Satan, demons, witches and wizards, cultists, enemies, etc, are saying or doing. The spiritual watchman to the house of Israel and to the church has more important duties at watching and hearing at the Doors of God's Mouth, as oracle of God proclaiming the Words that proceed from the Mouth of the Lord God Himself.
