[cheering] Welcome back, family.

Tonight's theme verse, Genesis 1 verse 1. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.

Not the big bang. That explosion with no culprit, no witness, no one arrested for it.

And [laughter] medium bang doesn't sell tickets, Elias. And that's exactly where we start. Let's divide this verse into fragments.

Ooh, I like that. Take it apart piece by piece.

Three fragments tonight. One, in the beginning. Two, God. Three, created the heaven and earth. In the beginning marks when this world began, not eternity itself. Scripture is clear there was a before to this beginning. Yes, in Proverbs 8:23, wisdom was set up set up from everlasting before the earth was. Titus 1:2 Titus 1:2 Eternal life promised before time began John 17:5 Christ speaks of the glory he had with the father before the world was John 17:24 love the father had for the son before the foundation of the world Matthew 13:35 secrets kept before the foundation of the world these four expressions all refer to before the beginning. One, before the foundation of the world. Two, before the world began. Three, before time began. Four, before scientific matter or energy was. Therefore, in the beginning, in the beginning means one, when the foundation of the world was laid, two when the world began, three when time began, four when scientific matter or energy emerged from nothing. So, there's a whole backstory before in the beginning even opens. A prequel to the prequel.

Interesting. And you thought your family had history.

A plan was already in motion. A word already spoken in purpose. So no, nothing you're about to see tonight is God improvising. No first draft, no "Let me try that again." Moving on to fragment two. All right, elaborate on who exactly is doing the creating. Elohim, the very name carries it. Plurality within oneness. One God known in fullness of Godhead.

There is no multitude that is better than this one God. For he is multitude himself, the Elohim.

Here are three key points on this contextual fragment on God.

1. One, God was in the beginning. He existed before the world began. [music] God was, God is, and God is to come.

2. Two, God is the single mystery of complex and inseparable plurality, self-sufficient being.

3. Three, God revealed himself, his godhead, power, invisibility, and eternity by things he made. Things he created reveal him.

Fragment three begins here. Created the heavens and the earth.

The Hebrew word for created here was barra. Not arranged, not assembled, not recycled, but bara which is created out of nothing. Only God holds that credential. It was not big bang rather it was big bara that pulled creation out of nothingness into existence.

Which is exactly the line scripture draws between him and every pretender.

Jeremiah 10:11. The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens. Period.

{Movie}

[music]

"Break open Adoil, and let the visible realm come out of you."

[bell]

"You light, go higher. Establish yourself as ceiling above My throne and become the foundation for the highest realms."

"From the lowest of the invisible, let archers come forth hard."

"Be opened, Archas, and let there be born from you."

[music]

"You, darkness, go down below and make yourself firm over the face of the deep abyss and become a foundation for lower things."
