Isaac and Rebekah: Go Out to Meet Him. Complete message. “And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelled in the south country.” Genesis 24:62. Wonderful! Miracle! As God was bringing Rebekah to Isaac, God was also bringing Isaac to Rebekah. Both left significant wells behind them, heading towards the point where their paths would meet on the way. Isaac was completely unaware of the arrangement his father made with the servant to bring him a wife, because Isaac was not even living with them: for Isaac was living in the South Country, and based on divine timing and arrangement, the day Rebekah was coming through that way was also the day Isaac was coming out of the South Country. Verse unveiling. “The marching out of the Bridegroom from His chamber to meet or receive the coming Bride, or vice versa.” Finally, it was not Abraham’s servant that completely brought Rebekah into the house; rather, Isaac was divinely inspired to go out and meet his wife on his way, out in the street of the Well of the Lord, Who sees all. For a reason, God would not allow the servant to take Rebekah to Abraham first before she was brought to Isaac, and God brought Isaac out from the South Country to meet Rebekah. God sent them manna, but they had to go out of their chambers to gather the manna.
This was not like God bringing Eve to Adam, who woke from sleep and found the woman brought to him. This was God bringing Rebekah to Isaac, and at the same time bringing Isaac out to meet Rebekah on the wayside. The sun is not a Bridegroom that will remain in its chamber waiting for the Bride to be brought to it. Rather, the sun is as a Bridegroom that comes out of its chamber to run the race, one chasing after its Bride coming towards it. As it is written: Psalms 19:4–5. “Their line is gone out through all earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has He set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a Bridegroom coming out of its chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.” The way couples do this marching during their local wedding is different from the way God organized the march between Isaac, the Groom, and Rebekah, the Bride, with her maids. In local weddings, the Bridegroom marches in with his friends and gets to his seat on the stage, waiting for the Bride with her maids to march in to meet the Groom. But in the march between Isaac and Rebekah, not only did it involve traveling through far countries in marching to meet each other at their coming, but it also involved marching towards one another. Hence, the Bridegroom was marching towards the Bride, while the Bride was coming towards the Groom.
Whether it’s the Bride coming into the house where the Groom already is, or it’s the Groom coming into the house where the Bride already is, the one who arrived first in the house should go out to welcome or meet the other on the way, and then both of them should come in together. Matthew 25:6. “And at midnight there was a cry made, ‘Behold, the Bridegroom comes! Go out to meet Him.’”
