Q&A 04: Why Compare Adam With Job?

QUESTION
How can you demonstrate that a person may face Satan, a persuasive wife, and difficult circumstances without being forced to sin?

RESPONSE
Thankfully, God provided another man who may be compared with Adam, a man who did not fall as Adam fell. His name was Job. God knew that Job would not fail, even when confronted by the combination of Satan and his wife. Adam was raised from the ground to dwell in Eden, while Job was struck down from being the richest man in the East, in Ur, to becoming the most tormented man in the East. Both had their trials in the East: Eden in the East, and Ur in the East. Adam in the Garden God made and fenced around him, and Job in the peak of riches as the richest man in the East within estate with Hedge God built around him and all that were his so that no Serpent or Satan could breach the Hedge to gain access. If God had never permitted Satan to test Job and fail against him, people could have accused God of favoring Job with every good thing and placing a hedge around his estate so that no Serpent or Satan could enter. They could have claimed that Job remained upright only because he was protected from the trials faced by others. God therefore allowed Satan an opportunity to attack Job’s perfection, uprightness, and integrity. Yet Job did not fail. Adam’s favorable environment did not force him to remain faithful, and Job’s terrible environment did not force him to become unfaithful.
