Briefing About Light of Fire. Let’s begin with this question and answer: When Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, what effect did it bring? Or did it add more hours in the world than what God had made?
It did not add more hours in the world, but added more light because the light had more opportunity to cover more distance per hour or day; and it meant there was a longer day but a shorter night.
As a result, light prevailed more over darkness that day, good prevailed more over evil that day,
the people of God prevailed more over their enemies that day, the heavens cast more hailstones on the opposition that day, and the army of God covered more ground in battle that day, according to Joshua 10.
Talking about “Light,” let me teach about “Fire.” The first six days of Genesis mentioned the creation God made, but there was no mention of “Fire” in any of those days.
In fact, all the time “Adam” was still mentioned in Genesis, “Fire” was not mentioned. Actually, the first time “fire” was mentioned in the Bible was when it fell from heaven like rain with brimstone upon Sodom and Gomorrah, Genesis 19:24.
And, like I once mentioned, that particular fire was also described as “Eternal Fire” in Jude 1:7, which I also explained was because it was powered by the brimstones—for eternal fire burns with brimstones. Therefore, the first fire that was mentioned in the Bible was an “Eternal Fire.”
But why was fire not mentioned in the first week of creation, especially in Genesis 1? To answer that: There was no need again to mention “Fire,” seeing “Light” is mentioned. Light and Fire are one, unless when it comes to destruction or consumption. So, because there was no destruction or consumption, the fire in creation was represented as “lights.”
I tell you, flaming fires rule both day and night as lights; for when God made the lights of the Sun and Stars, He made them flaming fires. They burn to give light and heat, but they are not consumed by their own fire.
In fact, energy is potentially inflammable or has the ability to burn: Energy is used through burning. The light of the Sun burns on hydrogen without oxygen by nuclear fusion that converts the hydrogen into helium,
but there are other fires that burn on other things that fuel or oil the fires. For example, the eternal fire burns on brimstone or sulfur.
Every “Lamp” is a light because the lamp carries fire. Every candle shines light when it carries fire. The disciples of Jesus Christ are the light of the world: a city set on high, which cannot be hidden; for men do not light a candle just to put it undercover by a bowl. Therefore, as disciples of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, let your light so shine before men that they might see your good works and glorify your Father, who is resident in Heaven, Matthew 5:14–16.
But how can they be light if they are not burning with fire? How can the disciples give light when they cannot even spark a light of fire?
One of the reasons we needed to be baptized with the Holy Ghost and with Fire is so that we might become the Lights by the Holy Ghost. You do not always need to call down “Holy Ghost Fire” if you are a fire yourself, carrying the Word of Fire in your tongue.
When the Spirit came upon the Church on the day of Pentecost, they were all having a tongue of fire on them, being translated into a tongue of fire in utterance; and from then, they were no more hidden from the people because they became light to them as lamps.
One. The Lord said it, and I read it, saying, “I am sending forth My messengers who will be flames of fire, burning with zeal for My holiness and the holiness of My people.”
Two. The Lord said it, and I read it, saying, “I am imparting to My messengers the fire to see My bride cleansed, and I am also imparting to them the burden of Nehemiah to see the walls of salvation restored.
Only when My truth comes from the heart does it have the power to change men. Living waters must come from the innermost being—the heart. Just as you felt My truth cleansing you, I am making My messengers flames of fire who will speak truth, not just to give understanding, but with the power to change men’s hearts. The truth that I am sending will not just convict My people of their sin, but will cleanse them from their sin.”
Three. The Lord said it, and I read it, saying, “I will give My messengers the vision to see My purpose in all things. I will make My messengers flames of fire, such as I appeared at the burning bush to Moses.
My fire will rest upon them, but they will not be consumed by it. Then mankind will marvel at this great sight and turn aside to see it. I will speak from the midst of My messengers, calling My people to their destiny and to rise up as the deliverers that I have called them to be.”
When that fire appeared to Moses at the burning bush, the bush was not consumed by that fire. That was the first wonder that captured Moses and drew him nearer to God.
And when Moses “turned aside” to see this great sight—why the bush was not burnt—God saw Moses had “turned aside” to see and immediately God called Moses out of the midst of that burning bush, Exodus 3:1–5. To see the wonders of fire is to see the light.
You already know that the Word of God in the mouth of His great messengers is “fire,” ready to consume the wood or fire consumables, Jeremiah 5:14 and Jeremiah 23:29.
Jeremiah testified he could not refuse to speak the Word of God because the Word of God in his heart was burning as fire shut within his bones, which he could not bear but give out to shine as light, Jeremiah 20:9.
The Word of God is like fire, and the people saw the voice of God speaking out of fire to them, even when God was speaking in Heaven to them at Mount Sinai during the time He spelt out to them the Ten Commandments.
He spoke to them from Heaven, but they were hearing His voice on earth out of fire. Fire became the speaker or oracle of God’s voice, but no image was seen while the fire was talking with the voice of God, Deuteronomy 4:12; and the voice the fire was carrying as it spoke was the voice of the Great Teacher.
As it is written, “He made you hear His voice out of Heaven so that He might teach you. And He showed you His great fire upon earth. And you heard His words out of the midst of the fire,” Deuteronomy 4:36.
Where Light and Fire Are One. He said the “Light of the body is the Eye,” and when I saw His Eyes, I saw them burning like a flaming fire, as a Lamp of fire, making His Face shine brighter than the Sun, Daniel 10:6, Revelation 1:14, and Luke 11:34–36.
As it is written, “These things says the Son of God, who has Eyes like a flame of fire and Feet like polished bronze,” Revelation 2:18.
Do not allow the oil of your lamp to run out, lest your light be put out like the foolish virgins. For you need fire to see the LORD’s vision being enlightened in your eyes.
When the light of the wicked is quenched, the spark of his fire ceases to shine, Job 18:5–6.
When He led them through the wilderness, there was no need for the Moon to give them light in the night, seeing the Pillar of Fire became their light at night, and in the day the pillar of fire appeared like a pillar of Clouds, Psalms 78:14. As it is written, “He spread a cloud as a covering and fire to give light at night,” Psalms 105:39.
However, it is better for the fire to turn into the light upon you than for the light to turn into the fire upon you.
God is Eternal Light, and God is Consuming Fire.
It is better to have the God of Fire turned into Light upon you than to have the God of Light turned into fire upon you.
For when the God of Light turns into fire, He devours and consumes.
As it is written, “So the Light of Israel will become a fire, and its Holy One shall turn into a flame.
He will burn and consume its thorns and briers in one day.
Both the glory of his forest and his fruitful field, He will consume both soul and body.
It will be like a sick man wasting away,” Isaiah 10:17–18.
