Wisdom Nuggets, Part Two: True Attraction and David’s Nearness. Thirteen. True attraction is measured by closeness to God, not by the number of people drawn to a personality.
Fourteen. Do not celebrate your power to attract people
unless your life also attracts God and directs those people toward Him.
Fifteen. Attraction by itself proves little:
waste attracts flies, dead flesh attracts vultures, and uncleanness attracts swine.
Sixteen. Your true worth is not established by how influential you appear,
but by how faithfully you abide near God. John 15:4–5.
Seventeen. Saul’s continuing disobedience separated his anointing from the Presence it was meant to host. First Samuel 15:22–23.
Eighteen. David also sinned, but he did not choose continual rebellion;
he returned to God with repentance.
Nineteen. David prayed, “Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” Psalm 51:11.
Twenty. Nearness to God does not erase every earthly consequence of sin;
David’s household still suffered deeply after his sin against Uriah. Second Samuel 12:9–14.
Twenty-one. God did not grant David’s plea for the sick child,
yet David arose from grief and returned to worship. Second Samuel 12:15–23.
Twenty-two. When David prayed against Ahithophel’s counsel,
God overturned that counsel and preserved His purpose for David. Second Samuel 15:31 and 17:14.
Twenty-three. Even during the judgment connected with David’s census, mercy stopped the destroying angel at Jerusalem. Second Samuel 24:16–17.
Twenty-four. Seek more than David’s favour: draw closer to God daily,
carry His Presence faithfully, and become a person after His Heart. First Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.
