Scavengers Fulfilled the Word. Part two of three. Continued. “For blood defiles the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it,” Numbers 35:33.
There is no amount of ablutions or Islamic prayers that will cleanse away sins.
This includes the sins of Muslims and the blood of killers of innocent lives.
Sin can only be cleansed by the Blood for the remission of sins, and that is the Blood of the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world even before sin began.
Those prostitutes, the armour, and the chariot of Ahab that washed in that pool of Samaria were not made clean just by that pool. As someone asked, if soap and water truly cleanse a bathed person, then what gets the drying towel dirty when rubbed on the skin of the washed person? Before a pool or river would truly cleanse a man, the Word of the Lord must instruct the process. Naaman was covered with leprosy, but following the instruction of Elisha the prophet, Naaman dipped himself in the river seven times, and he was cleansed and purified by the same river he termed dirty or less pure than Abana and Pharpar of Damascus in Syria, Second Kings 5:12–14.
It was by the word of the Lord Jesus, who directed the man born blind to go and wash his face at the Pool of Siloam; and when the blind man washed, he was cleansed of blindness from birth into seeing the manifest revelation of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, John 9. Equally, when the Word of God is involved, even water washes to cleansing and sanctifying according to Ephesians 5:26. But behold, it was not the washing of the water that fulfilled the Word of God concerning the blood of Ahab, but the licking of his blood by the dogs did the fulfilling of the Word of God. Dogs licked—ate—to fill and fulfil. The dogs were getting filled while fulfilling the Word of God in relation to the blood of Ahab. But even the dogs themselves were not cleansed, though they fulfilled the Word of God. You are not cleansed by just fulfilling the Word of God, but by hearing and believing the Word of God. As Jesus said to His disciples, “You are clean through the words I have spoken to you, but you must abide in Me even though you are clean, in order to bear fruits,” John 15:3–5. Being clean alone will not make you bear fruit, but you must abide in the Lord of the Vine to bear fruits of the Spirit that will endure forever.
