ADAM, JOB & RESPONSIBILITY
Q&A 06: What Did Job Say About Being Deceived Through a Woman?
QUESTION
Does Scripture connect Job’s integrity with his refusal to be deceived or morally drawn away through a woman?
RESPONSE
Job declared: Job chapter thirty-one, verses one and nine. “I made a covenant with my eyes; how then should I look lustfully at a young woman? If my heart has been deceived by a woman, or if I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door.” Job guarded both his eyes and his heart. He did not treat influence as compulsion or temptation as innocence. He understood that another person might present the occasion, but his own heart remained responsible for its covenant and response.
