DANIEL 2:3

And the king said to them, “I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream.” [Daniel 2:3 NKJV]

The king said to them, “I had a dream, and my spirit is troubled and anxious to know the [content and meaning of the] dream.” [AMP]

Unknown dreams exist, and they are capable of creating curiosity or anxiety in the spirits of men that can only be resolved by knowing them. The fact they exist as unknown is the problem to a spirit or soul that had them. Yes, they are examples to many things that exist as unknown to us but we must know them or else we are in trouble if we do not know after we know they exist.

This was the greatest king of his time on earth by then, who spoke of the dream (vision) he had but his spirit was anxious, curious or troubled to know the dream. So the Dream created strong desire in the king's spirit to know the dream he had. Many people have things, but have no desire or interest to know them.

I will just state few realities about how "Knowing" is more important than "Having" to the spirit of Kings, and about how the greatest desires/dreams that kings had were to know (see or hear) spiritual things even if they could not have them, and yet they could not know (see/hear) even with all their riches/powers.

Nebuchadnezzar the king was talking about his spirit's desire here, which is to know or to have knowledge. Carnal desires of the flesh are desires to have or acquire properties and pleasures; but your spirit is fed by knowledge of God and knowing things of God. Take these Five points about the importance of "Knowledge" to your soul/spirit pertaining to things that belong to your concern:

*1* Just as it is not good for a man to be alone, it is also not good for a soul to be without Knowledge. As it is written:

[Proverbs 19:2] — "Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hastens with his feet sins."

*2* Lack of Knowledge destroys more than lack of money. What sustains you as God's priest or God's chosen one is your growing in God's knowledge. There are certain destructions that cannot touch you if you possess certain knowledge with you:

[Hosea 4:6] — "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to Me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children."

*3* If you have Knowledge of the mysteries, the kingdom and the eternal life of God in His Son Jesus Christ, you have what kings lacked, sought, but could not have.

[Luke 10:23-24] — "Then Jesus turned to the disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”"

*4* The spirit of Nebuchadnezzar had a dream or vision that his spirit could not know. That was a torment to his spirit. The capacity of a man to possess spiritual things depends on the capacity of his spirit to know or discern. Spiritual robbery or bankruptcy is lack of knowledge. Give them things but deprive them of true knowledge. God occupied many people with the cares of this worldly things, riches and possessions, in order to distract them from know what God is doing from beginning to the end.

[Ecclesiastes 3:11] — "...God has set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end."

*5* That dream or vision that Nebuchadnezzar the king had was actually beyond the ability of human spirit to know, and would be problem if any man had it without knowing it. But there's a way to have such dreams or visions that are beyond human spirit; that way is by have the Spirit of God in you first before have such dreams or visions.

God has poured His Spirit into flesh so that they could have such dreams or visions that the Spirit of God in them can handle or know.

[Joel 2:28-29] — "And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on My menservants and maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days."

By implication, the spirit of man in us could not know the things of God given to us; but we also have the Spirit of God that can know the things of God and reveal them to us. As it is written,

[I Corinthians 2:11‭-‬14 NKJV] — For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
