GENESIS 1:5

God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. [NKJV]

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. [ASV]

Bible Teacher:

Though God saw the Light was good, He did not call the Light "Good" but rather called the Light "Day" when He separated the Light from the Darkness. God did not call the Light by what it was in the Sight of God, but rather called the Light by what it became in separating from the Darkness:

№¹ * In the Sight of God the Light was "Good," but

№² * In being separated or divided from the Darkness, God called the Light "Day."

Commentaries:

Not forgetting that on the flip side the Darkness also was called "Night" following the Light being called "Day." If separating from the Darkness earned the Light a crown as "Day," it also earned the Darkness a crown as "Night."

Bible Teacher:

God called the light "Day" and He called the darkness "Night;" and from then onwards, the Evening and the Morning became both "Recurring Events" and "Successional Procession" that marked and functioned as "TimeDay or Season," by administering and completing the rotation or cycle of Day and Night. TIME was no longer just about the Beginning, but much more about the measure of Day and Night allotted according to the uninterrupted succession and procession of Evening and Morning. This did not just began "Timing" but also began "Numbering."

Commentaries:

As Time began, Numbers or Numbering also began: for Time is basically a System of Numbering, Counting or Measuring, space and things. The first use of numbers (ordinal numbers or cardinal numbers) was in Numbering or Counting Day (Time): the Evening and the Morning were used to Number or Count the first one Day.

[Psalms 90:12] — "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."

Bible Teacher:

The wise in heart will number their days to walk with time. They would not spend their days for earthly or temporary things, but seek for heavenly and eternal things that matter in the spiritual Realms. To walk as children of light and day also requires to walk wisely with time and days: for Time is the numbering of the Light called Day and Darkness called Night.

Commentaries

Time is a Moving Light. Therefore, Time will eventually do what the Light does, which is to reveal all hidden things, expose all secret and dark things, because Time is Light in Motion.

Bible Teacher:

The Light continued to be called "Day," and the Darkness continued to be called "Night," since when God called or gave them those names in the top bible verse above. However, Numbering Days and Nights separated between Days or between Nights. One day is different from another day by numbers, though they are same by name "Day" or "Light." Therefore, God only gave surname to the Light when God called it "Day," and surname to the Darkness when God called it "Night:" and so their first names were given by their numbers. For example,

Even so, two or more people may bear the same name, but definitely not the same number. Numbers separate things that bear the same names or surnames. Book of life is not just containing names, but also numbers of names. The mark of the beast is the number of the name of the Beast who maybe bearing the same name with another individual.
