[GENESIS 1:4]

And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. [NKJV]

And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. [BSB]

Bible Teacher:

Though God saw the Light was good, God still worked on the Light to see the Light separated or divided from the Darkness. The Light attained being good in the sight of God, but needed to also attained being sanctified and distinguished from the darkness in the sight of God before the Light received the calling of God to serve as Day.

Commentaries:

The first thing God saw with that Light was the good of the Light.

Bible Teacher:

The first thing that Light revealed was it's being good, even before revealing any other thing in the sight of God. You judge yourself before you judge others, even if you were made the judge of others in the Sight of God. The Light first revealed it's own goodness (though not yet separated from darkness) in the Sight of God. Before pointing attention to the status of the earth or things hidden in the dark, the Light first came open and transparent for God review it and God found no evil but good in the Light, and assisted the Light to separate from the darkness.

Commentaries:

Let's say, "Before the light was sanctified, separated from darkness or distinguished, God had Eyes to see the goodness and potentials in that light." Not all have such eyes to see into the Light. Many are distracted more by seeing the darkness and evil under the Light than seeing the goodness inside the Light.

Bible Teacher:

God saw the Light was good even when the Light was not great, and God appreciated the Light even when the Light was not yet distinguished or separated from the darkness. Then afterwards God helped the Light become great enough by separating the Light from the darkness. And that enlarged and empowered the Light to be great enough to cover wider area or time as large as the darkness did or even more.

It was not about God carrying the light from one part of darkness to another, but about God dividing, distinguishing or separating the light from the darkness, in a way that increased the Brilliance or Enlargement of the light until it became Day.

Commentaries:

You too may find wisdom in appreciating a shining little light, and further improving a shining little light into become brighter and brighter until it becomes a perfect day. Have the eyes to see goodness and potentials in the least hidden states within people and things, and be part of helping the little good ones to grow.
