TREASURES OF THE LAND OF HAVILAH

GENESIS 2:12

[NKJV]

And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there.

[AMP]

And the gold of that land is pure, and bdellium and onyx are found there.

Then again, the story of Pishon glorified the land of Havilah and placed that land on the spotlight above it. We were not yet told what was inside the river water, but already told valuables found inside the land where the river was guarding as Island under the security of water boundaries around it. That land was basically a Treasury/Warehouse, and River Pishon secured/ornamented it.

The land of Havilah was a very rich land, that was endowed with Gold that was naturally "Good or Pure" even without needing man's refinery or much purification. Someone said, money does not grow on trees, but forgot to acknowledge that there are lands where money or gold are buried in them for those who have the eyes to see them and to buy the entire land because of the gold and precious stones hidden in them. The Land of Havilah was such as we could classify as "Field with Hidden Treasures."

And since the land of Havilah was like that field, having:

** Gold

** Bdellium: Colorless Aromatic Resin or Gum with Sweet Scent

** Onyx Stone: The first stone named or mentioned in the Bible.

** Pishon: The first River outside Eden.

Therefore, the Land of Havilah qualified to be used as parable in illustrating the Kingdom of Heaven or even the Garden of Eden. As it is written;

[Matthew 13:44] — "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like to treasure hid in a field; the which when a man has found, he hides, and for joy thereof goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field."

Except that there were men who dwelt on the land of Havilah but had no eyes to see the treasures in that land, and so they left Havilah for Shur instead of abiding at Havilah. Ishmael was said:

[Genesis 25:17-18] — "And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered to his people. And they dwelled from Havilah to Shur, that is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brothers."
