GENESIS 1:3

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. [Genesis 1:3 NKJV]

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. [Genesis 1:3 BSB]

Teacher:

That was the first Word of God spoken out of God’s Mouth in Genesis Lines: “Let there be Light.” And by the immediate obedience and instant fulfilling of that Word of God resulting in the Manifest Light, we know the Word of God is the Word of the Greatest King of all Creations. His Word as the King commands, creates and makes all things.

Commentaries:

Did He bring Light there to fulfill His Word?

Teacher:

God made “There” to be “Light,” not necessarily bringing light there. He did not say, “Bring light there,” but said “Let there be (become) light.” Here are five basic understanding in connection with when God said, “Let there be light:”

№1. “There was Light” means “There was defunct darkness.” Basically, God turned darkness there into light. This was a “Conversion of darkness into light” there, not an importation of light from foreign place. According to Amos and Jeremiah the prophets, God converts (turns) light into darkness and vice versa (Amos 5:8, Jeremiah 13:16).

№2. “There was Light” but not “Everywhere was light.” There was Light, but there was still darkness. “There” represented a fraction of everywhere, not the whole of everywhere. So there was a camp or concentration of the light, and the rest was darkness.

№3. “Let There be light,” not the same as “Let Here be light.” God spoke of “There,” not “Here,” showing where the light was manifest differed from whence the Word came. There was not necessarily God’s manifest Presence.

№4. The Light was not a Thing or Substance, but a Manifestion like the darkness. You cannot point its source or substance radiating the light, unlike the Lights of the sun, moon and stars, that were later made. This Light had no details or specifications regarding size, substance, source, location, etc, except manifestions to worlds below just as the existing darkness was.

№5. The light came after the manifestation of things in the Sight of God, not a light before the manifestation of things before God. It was not the light that inspired God to see what He had already seen pertaining the earth; rather what God had already seen inspired God to call for the light. God was not needing the light to see things by the light as humans do; rather God brought the light to see the light was good.

№6. Though God had already seen the earth, seen the formlessness, the voidity, the imperfections, the darkness and the waters hidden under the darkness of the earth, yet God called for light to be, and there was light.

Commentaries:

Notice the light did not come to further condemn, accuse or reveal the existing problems/faults; neither was the light meant to cancel the darkness nor hide the faults in earth: rather the light was the dawn of hope of God’s intervention and taking over.

Teacher:

The attraction and attention the Spirit of God drew to earthly Creation resulted in God speaking this first Word and subsequent Words that transformed the earthly realms. That light was the first Gospel of God spoken to His Earthly creation in

Genesis, and practically the unveiling of the first Word of God in the book of Genesis. The Light brought Morning or Dawn into the Earthly Creation. Therefore this light did not come just to basically expose, unveil or manifest, anything already in darkness; but the light came to reveal the hope of what God was about to do for the improving, perfecting and harmonizing of His creation. True Hope is Light.

Commentaries:

Notice also that God commanded the light to be there, without specifications for the nature, size or type of light He wanted there.

Teacher:

In a world of total darkness everywhere, having a light anywhere there to interrupt the darkness is the first step to defeating the monopoly of darkness, before the light may be brought to where or how it is needed most. Without caring where the light might be, where it might face, how big or little the light may be, or who might be benefiting from the light, your first priority should be, “Let there be light” (anywhere there) first; and when there is light anywhere there, doing other wise things relatively to the light would follow.

In place of total darkness, let any little light, whether its yours or not, let it shine. Sometimes it is easier or wiser to collect (share) a spark of fire or flame from another burning source to light your lamp than to create entirely new fire.

Commentaries:

Was the existing darkness part of God’s Creation or the darkness was not created but existed. I heard Muslims were taught that their Allah was created or came into being from Darkness.

Teacher:

Darkness was created by God. God created darkness and still formed the Light: He did both [Isaiah 45:7]

Commentaries:

Was there no light before God said “Let there be Light?”

Teacher:

Before God said this Word, God has been the true Light to all Creations including the earthly Creation, and in Him there was no darkness at all [1 John 1:5]. God had no darkness in Him, neither did God come from darkness: God is the Father of Lights with no shadow or variableness [James 1:17]. To be the Father of Lights is to be the Source or Origin of the Lights. God is the Father, the Source, the Origin, from whom the Lights became.

Commentaries:

That been the case, why did God has to speak the Word before there was Light? Since He’s Light, wherever He is should automatically be lite-up. How is it that God dwells in darkness when God is Light Himself? [1 Kings 8:12]

Teacher:

He’s dwelling in darkness means He’s hiding in Secret Pavilion [Psalms 18:11] or He’s remaining invisible to earthly lights. Surely, God is the Light that shines in darkness but the darkness does not comprehend it. Yet, He reveals the deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him. [Daniel 2:22]

Commentaries:

But is it wise to light a lamp and put it under a covering instead of putting it on top stand to give light to all? Let God’s Light shine before men for them to see His goodworks and glorify God in heaven [Matthew 5:15,16]

Teacher:

And that is what God is doing, allowing His Lights [Sun, Moon, Stars, Days, Seasons] to shine before men, but it’s for men to see His goodworks, not necessarily for men to see Him, and glorify God. God hides Himself [Isaiah 45:15], but God reveals His Lights in His Works.

Commentaries:

Why is God hiding Himself instead of showing Himself as the Light?

Teacher:

Because there are other Lights that reveals Him in earthly realms, and those Lights will lose their relevance and glories if God reveals Himself to men without those Lights. No need yet for God to retire those Lights by showing up Himself without them since God made those Lights the rulers, governments and doorways incharge over earthly realms in accessing God through them. They are currently God’s channels to mankind.

Commentaries:

Who or what are these Lights you so speak of?

Teacher:

These Lights include True Faith, True Hope, True Love, Revelation of Christ Jesus, The Word of God, Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding, Daylight, Sun, Moon and Stars.

ADDENDUM

The Source of Light is the Word of God and His unveiling Revelations. The Word came to give the Light, and the Light came to fulfill the Word. The Word is the true Light. The creation needed His Word to have His Light. The entrance or utterance of God’s Word brought light then, and it still brings light and gives understanding today and forever. The degree of the light inside you is to the degree of the light the Word of God gives inside you. Do not just seek the light that reveals things, but more importantly seek the light that reveals His Word or His Person. His Light is better than earthly lights and all the lights of men. Do not just seek illumination from another source, but basically from God and His Word.
