1 ENOCH 25 - {Ethiopic Enoch}
[Chapter Twenty-Five]
1. From thence I proceeded to the middle of the earth, and beheld a happy and fertile spot, which contained branches continually sprouting from the trees which were planted in it. There I saw a holy mountain, and underneath it water on the eastern side, which flowed towards the south. I saw also on the east another mountain as high as that; and between them there were deep, but not wide valleys.
2. Water ran towards the mountain to the west of this; and underneath there was likewise another mountain.
3. There was a valley, but not a wide one, below it; and in the midst of them were another deep and dry valleys towards the extremity of the three. All these valleys, which were deep, but not wide, consisted of a strong rock, with a tree which was planted in them. And I wondered at the rock and at the valleys, being extremely surprised.
[1 Enoch 25:1] — From thence I proceeded to the middle of the earth, and beheld a happy and fertile spot, which contained branches continually sprouting from the trees which were planted in it. There I saw a holy mountain, and underneath it water on the eastern side, which flowed towards the south. I saw also on the east another mountain as high as that; and between them there were deep, but not wide valleys.
*1*After his experience with the Tree of Life, Enoch was taken to the center of the earth and there he observed a joyful and fertile area, where trees were constantly producing new branches.
*2*Without the presence of the Tree of Life in the midst of the earth, that middle of the earth still thrived with happiness and fertility.
*3*Such a place is described as "Blessed Ground" because it's fertile or "Good Ground" as in the parable of the sower, seeing it yielded abundantly according to what was planted in her.
[Hebrews 6:7-8 ICB] — Some people are like land that gets plenty of rain. The land produces a good crop for those who work it, and it receives God’s blessings. Other people are like land that grows thorns and weeds and is worthless. It is about to be cursed by God. It will be destroyed by fire.
*4*Within this place, there was a sacred mountain, with water flowing from the eastern side and heading towards the south: For Enoch saw the mountain was sacred (holy), but the holy mountain was not even in slope, seeing the water flowed or descended from eastern side of the holy mountain towards the southern side.
*5*That's the Eastern side of the Holy Mountain was both higher than the southern parts, and from under eastern side of the holy Mountain was the side through which the fountain (water from the rock) of the mountain issued out: Not all sides of the holy mountain is for water to come, lest you strike the rock wrongly.
*6*Additionally, Enoch noticed another mountain of equal height to the east, with deep valleys between them that were not particularly wide.
*7*Between the two Mountains: There's relatively equal height, and perhaps the second Mountain in the East was as holy as its western counterpart; but they formed between them multiple valleys (ravines) like collectors, very deep but narrow.
[1 Enoch 25:2] — Water ran towards the mountain to the west of this; and underneath there was likewise another mountain.
*8*Unlike the Eastern side of the first holy mountain in this middle of the earth, the water flowed in the direction of this mountain to the west: until it's confirmed this mountain issued its own water, let's consider the water that runs towards this mountain as the water coming from the East side of the First Holy Mountain Enoch saw in the middle earth, valleys notwithstanding.
*9*Below this mountain, there existed yet another mountain, concealed from sight: This third mountain was hardly seen from afar, and it's overshadowed by the greatness of this nearest rock. For this third mountain was not as high as the first two, but baser.
[1 Enoch 25:3] — There was a valley, but not a wide one, below it; and in the midst of them were another deep and dry valleys towards the extremity of the three. All these valleys, which were deep, but not wide, consisted of a strong rock, with a tree which was planted in them. And I wondered at the rock and at the valleys, being extremely surprised.
*10*Below the height of the third mountain, there also existed a valley, albeit not a wide one.
*11* All the three Mountainshad in their surroundings, similar narrow but deep and desolate valleys stretching towards the outermost point of the three: there were ditches all around them.
*12*All of these valleys, while significantly deep, lacked width (being narrow), and were formed by a sturdy rock foundation with a solitary tree firmly planted within.
[Proverbs 23:27] — "For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit."
*13*Enoch's astonishment grew as he contemplated the extraordinary rock formations and the existence of those narrow valleys or ditches.
