1 ADAM+EVE 18
{The First Book of Adam and Eve 18}
THEME:
THE MORTAL COMBAT WITH THE SERPENT
โ *1ยท WHEN the accursed serpent saw Adam and Eve, it swelled its head, stood on its tail, and with eyes blood-red, did as if it would kill them.
โ *2ยท It made straight for Eve, and ran after her; while Adam standing by, wept because he had no stick in his hand wherewith to smite the serpent, and knew not how to put it to death.
โ *3ยท But with a heart burning for Eve, Adam approached the serpent, and held it by the tail; when it turned towards him and said unto him:--
โ *4ยท "O Adam, because of thee and of Eve, I am slippery, and go upon my belly" Then by reason of its great strength, it threw down Adam and Eve and pressed upon them, as if it would kill them.
โ *5ยท But God sent an angel who threw the serpent away from them, and raised them up.
โ *6ยท Then the Word of God came to the serpent, and said unto it, "In the first instance I made thee glib, and made thee to go upon thy belly; but I did not deprive thee of speech.
โ *7ยท "Now, however, be thou dumb; and speak no more, thou and thy race; because in the first place, has the ruin of my creatures happened through thee, and now thou wishest to kill them"
โ *8ยท Then the serpent was struck dumb, and spake no more.
โ *9ยท And a wind came to blow from heaven by command of God that carried away the serpent from Adam and Eve, threw it on the sea shore, and it landed in India.
[1 Adam and Eve 18:1] โ When the accursed serpent saw Adam and Eve, it swelled its head, stood on its tail, and with eyes blood-red, acted like it would kill them.
As the Curse upon the Serpent worked on him, so did the enmity God put between the Serpent and the Woman also worked on him. The same head of the Serpent that shall be bruised by the Woman's Seed was the head the Serpent swelled as soon as he saw the Man and the Woman and filled his eyes with hatred, vengeance and blood thirstiness to kill and destroy mankind. Therefore, the Serpent that was just a deceiver also became the Enemy of Mankind because on account of the Woman the Serpent lost his glories, beauties, figures, abilities and place, among creatures of the earth.
[1 Peter 5:8 BSB] โ "Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."
[1 Adam and Eve 18:2] โ It made straight for Eve, and ran after her; while Adam standing by, cried because he had no stick in his hand with which to hit the serpent, and did not know how to put it to death.
After the Serpent had sighted both the Man and the Woman, the Serpent went straight for that Woman first leaving the man. Even though the Serpent had hatred for the entire human race, it's obvious that he would rather target the Woman more than he targeted the Man to kill. Both the Woman and the Serpent were close friends before, but now felt betrayed by each other, and have special hatred against each other. The Woman lost some of her honors and leadership privileges because the Serpent deceived Her, but for the Woman's Accusation or Litigation the Serpent also losed way more lots under the first Curse God ever pronounced on anyone in creation. Therefore, the enmity is basically between the Serpent and the Woman, and between his seed and her Seed.
There's another Woman the Serpent shall be targeting as he targeted Eve, and even much more attempt to kill Her because She was delivered of a Male Child that took away all hope of the Kingdom away from the Serpent or the Dragon. As it is written,
[Revelation 12:13-17] โ "And when the Dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, he persecuted the Woman which brought forth the male child. And to the Woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the Serpent. And the Serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the Dragon cast out of his mouth. And the Dragon was wroth with the Woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."
Remember that God had earlier given Dominion over all living creatures on earth to Adam and Eve; and He also gave them grace to subdue the earth. God did not withdraw the Dominion from Mankind, neither did the Serpent collect it: but God introduced "Enmity" that brought wars or conflicts, and "Cursed the ground for the man's sake" that brought rebellion and hardship. So the Dominion and Grace became useless to Mankind.
The Adam that supposed to walk in "Dominion" was reduced to walking in "Self-defense;" crying like baby, thinking of using something to strike and kill the Serpent in self-defense for his wife. And Adam neither knew how to fight nor how to kill then.
Adam cried because he had no Stick to strike the Serpent and he did not know how to kill it. It meant Adam would have killed one of God's creatures if he had the knowledge and opportunity to do so in order to save the woman that was bone of his bones. Chaos.
[1 Adam and Eve 18:3] โ But with a heart burning for Eve, Adam approached the serpent, and held it by the tail; when it turned towards him and said to him:โ
Eve had been the one with the heart burning for Adam whenever she felt she lost him, but here is Adam feeling such heart burn for Eve when he felt the Serpent was about to kill her. And Adam did not flee when the predator held his wife, rather Adam courageously joined the fight for his wife even risking his life too.
Nevertheless, this Serpent was not like the Serpent Moses fled from. The Serpent Moses fled from would turn back into a Stick as soon as Moses would hold it by its tail; but Adam holding this Serpent by the Tail was not going to turn this Serpent into Stick but instead turn the Serpent's head against Adam too. Remember how the Dragon cast down one third of the stars of heaven with just his Tail.
[1 Adam and Eve 18:4] โ "O Adam, because of you and of Eve, I am slippery, and go on my belly." Then with its great strength, it threw down Adam and Eve and squeezed them, and tried to kill them.
These two tactics originated from the Serpent called Satan, Devil:
1.Blame others for your bad condition or blame another person for your misfortune: โ The Serpent here blamed Adam and Eve for his misery and condition that came upon him as curse for his past evil character of telling lies, deception and ruining things. The Serpent was not blaming himself as remorse to repent, instead the Serpent blamed Adam and Eve even when Adam had absolutely nothing to do with the Serpent being Slippery, creepy and crawling on belly.
Don't we have bunches of human beings everywhere that are looking for who to heap blames and accusations on for their sufferings, pains, failures, misfortunes or miseries, even when those things happened to them because of their evil and foolish ways in their past? They blame others except themselves.
2.Hate, attack or try to kill, others whom you blame/framed for your bad condition, misfortune, suffering or badluck: โ It's like what people said about, "Calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it." The Devil began that way of using "Accuse" as substitute for "Excuse" to attack or kill both the guilty and the innocent people.
This is just to play prank to one's conscience by using accusing the person to satisfy your excusing your acts of attacking, envying, hating or gossipping, against him, her or them. Don't we have bunches of human beings everywhere that hate or attack a particular tribe, race or ethnicity group of people, because they blame them for what few of their relations did in the past? They condemn both the righteous and the wicked just because of the wicked among the righteous. This is Devilish.
In this verse of Adam was when "The Serpent became Satan and Devil" full time. Do not forget this, he was first known as the Serpent when he was subtle, cunning, crafty or deceitful. So Serpent was his first name, then later he became called Satan or Devil. As it is written,
[Revelation 12:9 GW] โ "The huge serpent was thrown down. That ancient snake, named Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, was thrown down to earth. Its angels were thrown down with it."
Before I continue on what qualified him for these names, I want to knock off an erroneous teaching/preaching. In that sermon, the man of God taught, saying, when God questioned Adam, Adam blamed Eve; and when God questioned Eve, Eve blamed the Serpent; and because the Serpent did not shift blame to anyone, the Serpent therefore had the Dominion. Meaning shifting blame was shifting Dominion: the one who kept the blame on himself was bearing the responsibility and therefore was the one who kept the Dominion.
While I understand and agree with his building men who bear their own responsibilities without shifting blames to others, I found two errors in his endorsing the Serpent as qualified for the Dominion because according to him the Serpent did not shift blame to anyone but bore the responsibility or curse for his deed.
1. It's an error to award Dominion (Kingdom) to the one Convicted, Guilty as charged or Blamable. Admitting your blame means you are disqualified from the Kingdom or Dominion: Why should you be the Convict or Guilty as charged, and then because you bear the responsibility then the Dominion or Kingdom will be added to you?
2. It's an error to say the Serpent did not blame anyone else, because the Serpent became Satan for blaming or accusing others. Notice God was asking the others because God knew they had just reason to blame. But God did not ask the Serpent nor waited to hear the Serpent's defense because the Serpent had no one to blame but would still blame either God or the humans. E.g. when God spoke about Job to Satan, Satan blamed God for doing good things for Job.
* The name "Satan" in Hebrew means "Accuser, Opposer, Adversary, Anti-Christ, Anti-God, Anti-Good, Evil-One" โ You don't have to be guilty or bad before he accuses or opposes you: for he accuses or opposes even good things, innocent people, faultless. It's in Satan's nature to "oppose" those who are offspring of God.
The Dominion (Kingdom) did not come because Satan did not blame others; rather the Dominion (Kingdom) came because Satan who blame others was thrown out for Dominion to come:
[Revelation 12:10] โ "And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: โNow have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown downโ he who accuses them day and night before our God."
Like Satan, there are people who would always oppose whatever you do both good and bad. They are satanic in nature.
* The name "Devil" is the Greek version or translation of the name "Satan." Devil means the same thing Satan means, but Satan is Hebrew term while Devil is Greek term.
Hebrew also has the use of "Devils" to mean "Demons" or "unclean spirits" in Hebrew, e.g. casting out devils means casting out demons in Hebrew. But that's "devils" with "s" as in plural, not the Devil as in singular. This is the reason why you may not find the word "the Devil" in the entire "Old Testament" of the Bible, but you find "Devils" there, because the Old Testament was translated directly from Hebrew. But in the New Testament, you may begin to see the use of "The Devil" which is the Greek word for Satan; because the New Testament was translated from the Greek, not necessarily from Hebrew, unlike the old testament. E.g.
[John 8:44] โ "You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
[1 Adam and Eve 18:5] โ But God sent an angel who threw the serpent away from them, and raised them up.
God sent an angel to cast away the Devil, and to raise the fallen. That was the first deliverance from the powers of Satan that any man or woman received. The Lord still sends angels and men to deliver those bound by Satan under the chains of the Serpent's grip. The chains must be broken, and the Devil cast out.
That was then, but now it's easier by the grace of God to deliver yourself from the Devil even without needing the presence of angel. All you need do is to submit yourself to the Lord and then resist the devil, and he will be cast away from you. As is written,
[James 4:7-8] โ "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded."
But remember, that is if the devil came to you as a spirit, and not with his physical body as the Serpent or Dragon. You can easily resist or cast out Satan, Demons and spirits, that are not in their physical bodies; but when they are with their own bodies such as the Serpent (dragon), the Beast (antichrist) or any giant beast, they have more grounds and resistance.
So you don't expect this Serpent to flee from Adam or Eve no matter their resistance. But if the Serpent came as a spirit, a thought or temptation, the Serpent would have fled at their first resistance. Some of you can not even resist a giant physical dog to cause it to flee, let alone resisting a giant Dragon or Serpent called Satan. I saw video in which a small child was trying to intimidate or resist a Dog that was trained to pastor or shepherd a flock in an open field: the dog first barked from a distance at the small child to keep off the flock, but the child turned towards the dog and was boldly marching towards the dog with strides that he thought would intimidate the dog into fleeing or running. But when the dog saw the child wanted to face it, the dog charged at the child with accelerated speed rushing to grab the child that was advancing towards it. Then suddenly the child turned and began crying and running away for help.
Behold, when the Serpent was about to kill all the Mankind on earth with just one fatality or flawless victory, God sent an angel that was Stronger than Satan to cast away the Serpent from the weaker vessels. Yes, there are angels in heaven that are far stronger than Satan, even in mortal Combat; and they are not even among greatest angels in heaven.
Check out this angel that used only one hand to grab the Dragon or Serpent called Satan or Devil, while using the other hand to hold chains, cuffs and Key. That Angel was not even described as great or mighty, but just an Angel that Satan or Dragon could not withstand just one of his hand. As it is written,
[Revelation 20:1-3] โ "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season."
Don't mind Satan who likes to show muscles (powers) when he sees men, women and lesser demons/angels under him. The day God would send one policing angel to arrest and imprison the dragon, then he will know his limits. Nevertheless, Adam and Eve wrestled with the Serpent in combat and they lost or almost losed their lives. But Jacob wrestled with God and Angel, and he prevailed and was awarded the name, "Israel."
Now we no longer wrestle against flesh and blood (Serpent) physically, but spiritually we wrestle against him, against principalities, against powers. And we don't use carnal weapons for mortal Combat, but we use spiritual and mighty weapons to the pulling down, casting down, of unworthy spiritual entities in our minds/thoughts.
Fighting the Serpent or Satan physically with carnal weapons is basically fighting him on his own ground, and you may not win him when you fight him on his own ground or advantage points. Remember, the Serpent that basically crawls on the ground with his belly, breasts and chests, and feeds on dust or live in dust, is far more in touch with the ground or earth than you that walk or step on the ground. If that Serpent is flat on the ground the Serpent is still standing even when the Serpent is lying on the ground; but if you are flat on the ground you are fallen. If the referee sees the Serpent's head, belly, or back, on the ground, the referee still counts it as standing his ground for the Serpent. But the referee will count you as fallen or fell if your head, belly or back is on the ground in wrestling. So be wiser when you fight the wrestling called "Last Man Standing" with the Serpent. See how the Serpent easily swept Adam to fall on the ground before strangulating them like Python or Anaconda. One of the strategy of the Eagle in defeating the Serpent is to change the battle ground by lifting the Serpent from the ground where the Serpent has the advantage, and then the Eagle would fight and overcome the Serpent in the air or higher levels where the eagle has the advantage. Even so,go spiritual, not carnal โ "Game-Changer."
[1 Adam and Eve 18:6] โ Then the Word of God came to the serpent, and said to it, "The first time I made you slick, and made you to go on your belly; but I did not deprive you of speech.
One of the things I learnt earlier from the Lord God is that He does not keep malice with the Devil, even though the Devil is enemy of God. It's like two parties warring against themselves, and yet they kept communication between them even though they are enemies: and sometimes they agree on truce, ceasefire, and negotiate, but their communication is never about making peace. No matter how much God and Satan communicate, they never talk about making peace or reconciling because both knows that will never happen until the final Judgment; but they communicate to reach agreement or reach justification. You can make agreement with your enemy without making peace; and you can justify yourself before your enemy without making friendship with the enemy. I wonder why two persons will be living in the same house but keep malice of not even talking to his neighbor, spouse or brother; or when they talk the talk must be quarrel or abusive.
In this Verse above, the Word of God came to the Serpent, taking responsibility for making the Serpent slippery or slick; but also showing to the Serpent the mercy or doing "Less than" in what God did. It was important to show Satan God's mercy or God doing "Less than the Serpent's iniquity deserved" when God cursed him. This meant, even while God punished the Serpent at first, God was still withholding His full wrath by still allowing the Serpent to keep his speech and utterance, even though the Serpent used those ability to speak or oratory to deceive the Woman.
If God had muzzle the mouth of the Serpent or muted him, he would not have had what to use in deceiving a Woman. Today, there are so many people who are abusing the use of their mouth or tongue, and God still allowed them to keep their Abilities in speaking. No Muting and no Malicing. Freedom of speech allowed.
[1 Adam and Eve 18:7] โ This time, however, you will be mute, and you and your race will speak no more; because, the first time My creatures were ruined because of you, and this time you tried to kill them."
God reneged on His allowance of letting the Serpent speak or keep his ability to talk because the Serpent added transgression to his first transgression against God's Creatures. And this curse also applied to both the Serpent and to all his race, seeds or descendants of Serpent or Snake. But are they not among God's Creatures?
1. God's Creatures here refer to God's Offspring who were supposed to be in the Image of God, but the Serpent ruined God's Offspring away from God's Image and Likeness, but wanted his own offspring of the Serpent to keep his likeness and glory after him. So the Serpent ruined God's Offspring, but preserved his own; and again the Serpent tried to kill or destroy God's Offspring to have just the seed of the Serpent without the seed of the Woman. Recall the Dragon waited to eat the Woman's Child as soon as he was born, but God caught up His own to His Throne.
2. God too marred or disfigured the Serpent and his offspring, making them slippery and speechless (mute), feeding on dust.
[1 Adam and Eve 18:8] โ Then the serpent was struck mute, and was no longer able to speak.
I heard some Atheists mock the Bible because it contain story of a Serpent that spoke as in "Speaking or Talking Serpent." They felt its myth because to them it's impossible for a serpent to speak or talk, but to hiss.
Truth is that, the Serpents today are not as the Serpent originally was in the Garden of Eden; neither are Human Beings today as Man and Woman were in the Garden of Eden. At least, there are three or more things the Serpent had before in the Garden which none of his descendants or lookalike creatures have now:
1. Before the Serpent was not creepy or slick, but was a creature with Legs, Hands, beautiful figures like Dragon or some form of Dinosaur. But now a serpent is without legs, without hands, and basically like slippery rope.
2. Before the Serpent had brilliance and beauty, making him the most distinguished among the Beasts and Cattle. But a serpent is hideous.
3. Before the Serpent talks or speaks with actual conversation in the language of humans, and had understanding of man and had interest in what human beings had interest and conversation in. But now a serpent only hiss and shoots out tongue that was marred and made unable to form any utterance or sound except hissing.
[1 Adam and Eve 18:9] โ And a wind blew down from heaven by the command of God and carried away the serpent from Adam and Eve, and threw it on the seashore where it landed in India.
A Wind from heaven, commanded by God, threw the Serpent far apart from Adam and Eve, beyond that which the angel had earlier thrown the Serpent away from them. For when the Wind carried the Serpent, the Wind threw the Serpent on the seashore in India. That was the last time Adam and Eve saw the physical Serpent, but not the last time they saw the spirit of the Serpent called "Satan or Devil." Infact, Satan began to often leave his Serpent body behind because that body could not speak but slippery, and Satan the Devil began to operate more as spirit being possessing other bodies of creatures or human beings to do things that he could not do with his own Serpent body. For though the Serpent body lost to being Slippery, creepy, ugly, and mute, those did not affect the Serpent's spirit form that could go to and fro, up and down, the earth; still speaking in deceiving the world.
Meanwhile, the Serpent landed in India, and India became the headquarters of the religion that worship or Revere Serpent, called "Hinduism." In Hindu, there are "Serpent-gods" or "Serpent kings" such asShesha (Ananta) the first Serpent king, Vasuki the second Serpent king, Takshaka the third and present Serpent king. According to Wikipedia on Serpent Demons, "Vritra is also known in the Vedas as Ahi (Sanskrit: เค
เคนเคฟ ahi, lit. "snake"). He appears as a human-like serpent blocking the course of the Rigvedic rivers, and is slain by Indra with his newly-forged vajra. Indra kills the Vritrasura with his vajra."
[Psalms 74:13-14] โ "You did divide the sea by your strength: you brake the heads of the dragons in the waters. You brake the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gave him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness."
