1 ADAM+EVE 9 - {The First Book of Adam and Eve 9}
Theme of Chapter 9: —
WATER FROM THE TREE OF LIFE. ADAM AND EVE NEAR DROWNING.
№ *¹· THEN Adam and Eve came out of the Cave of Treasures, and drew near to the garden gate, and there they stood to look at it, and wept for having come away from it.
№ *²· And Adam and Eve went from before the gate of the garden to the southern side of it, and found there the water that watered the garden, from the root of the Tree of Life, and that parted itself from thence into four rivers over the earth.
№ *³· Then they came and drew near to that water, and looked at it; and saw that it was the water that came forth from under the root of the Tree of Life in the garden.
№ *⁴· And Adam wept and wailed, and smote upon his breast, for being severed from the garden; and said to Eve:--
№ *⁵· "Why hast thou brought upon me, upon thyself, and upon our seed, so many of these plagues and punishments?"
№ *⁶· And Eve said unto him, "What is it thou hast seen, to weep and to speak to me in this wise?"
№ *⁷· And he said to Eve, "Seest thou not this water that was with us in the garden, that watered the trees of the garden, and flowed out thence?
№ *⁸· "And we, when we were in the garden, did not care about it; but since we came to this strange land, we love it, and turn it to use for our body."
№ *⁹· But when Eve heard these words from him, she wept; and from the soreness of their weeping, they fell into that water; and would have put an end to themselves in it, so as never again to return and behold the creation; for when they looked upon the work of creation, they felt they must put an end to themselves.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:1] —THEN Adam and Eve came out of the Cave of Treasures, and drew near to the garden gate, and there they stood to look at it, and wept for having come away from it.
There's a gate that had more attraction to mankind than a Cave of Treasures where mankind dwelt. Mankind came out of Cave of Treasures to behold and to weep, not for coming out of the Cave of Treasures, but for coming out of the Gate of Life. Because Life is greater than treasures, we may loveGates more thanDwellings of Treasures. As it is written,
[Psalms 87:2] — "The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob."
Adam and Eve still had with them the attraction and desire towards the Garden they came away from. The Gate into the Garden became the most attractive place and most desire possession for Adam and Eve among the entire treasures of the entire earth. And they missed the garden so much that they had to still weep for having come out of it. Having the ability to see such Gates or Doors, without the way to enter into any of it, that is still painful.Hence, it is one thing to see it, but another thing to enter it.
-
№_*· Adam and Eve still had ability to"See" the Garden Gate, but they were denied the ability to "Enter" into it because they sinned.
-
№_*· Moses still had ability to"See" the Promised Land, but he was denied the ability to "Enter" into it because he sinned.
-
№_*· Many may have ability to"See" the Kingdom of God because they are born again, but still they would be denied the ability to "Enter" into it because though they were born again they were not born of the Spirit nor were they doing the Will of the Father of Jesus Christ in Heaven.
This is like having theDoor without having theWay:Even when many reach the Door (Gate), they would still not find the Way at the Door. As it is written,
[Luke 13:23-30] — Someone asked Him, “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” Jesus replied, “Try very hard to enter the narrow Door, because I tell you that many will try to go in, and won't succeed. Once the house owner gets up and closes the Door, you'll be standing outside knocking on the Door, saying, ‘Master, please open the door for us.’ But He'll reply, ‘I don't know you or where you're from.’ Then you'll say, ‘But we ate and drank with You, and You taught in our streets!’ He'll reply, ‘I tell you, I don't know you or where you're from. Get away from Me, all of you who don't do what's good!’ There will be crying and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you are thrown out. People will come from the east and the west, the north and the south, and they will sit down to eat in the kingdom of God. For the last shall be first, and the first shall be last.”
Some do not have such desire for the house of God or for the gate of heaven as Adam and Eve still had here. That desire that caused them to weep by the Gate for having lost their access into the garden is like the desire to enter the house of God and into His Temple from outside yet find neither entrance nor access into the House of God through the Gate/Door.
Jacob came out of his parents' shadow and discovered Bethel was the House of God and the Gate of Heaven to him. Adam and Eve came out of the cave of treasures and drew near to the Gate of the Garden of God's House. That Gate began to represent the presence of God or temple place for Adam and Eve outside the Garden, and they were closer to the Gate of the Garden of Eden, where the Cherub and flaming Sword were. That place by the Gate of the Garden was to Adam and Eve as a church/temple would be to some Christians today.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:2] —And Adam and Eve went from before the gate of the garden to the southern side of it, and found there the water that watered the garden, from the root of the Tree of Life, and that parted itself from thence into four rivers over the earth.
Since the Garden had Gate, the Garden also had Fence or Wall around it. Adam and Eve began to explore the other outer side of the Garden beyond the gate, and look what they found at the southern side of the garden. The water that watered the garden, proceeding from the roots of the tree of life in the middle of the garden, was coming through out of the garden at the southern side. Thus, though the garden was shut to mankind going in, it was not shut to things coming out to mankind.
The curse on the ground for Adam's sake did not dry or shut off the river of water from the roots of the tree of life, which came out and became four river heads over the earth after it watered the garden. The earth was still benefiting from the crumbs or leftovers of the great garden via its southern side. Sticking at the gate side or western side only could not get mankind to discover this; but migrating to the southern side of the garden got mankind to discover the first rivers on earth.
Thus, Adam and Eve left the gate of the garden to the southern side of the same garden, and they found another 'gate' metaphorically. This metaphorical gate was not the gate through which they exited the garden, but was the gate through which the watermass or river that watered the garden was still exiting the garden, even from the root of the Tree of Life inside the Garden.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:3] —Then they came and drew near to that water, and looked at it; and saw that it was the water that came forth from under the root of the Tree of Life in the garden.
Just by looking at the water in a closer range, Adam and Eve knew that water as the river that watered the garden and was coming directly from under the root of the Tree of Life. They recognized the fountain.
Why didn't Adam and Eve even thought about creeping through the waterhole back into the Garden, and bypassing the Cherub and the flaming Sword by the Western side of the garden?
But then, Adam and Eve were not as corrupt as some people have become in the last days. So they were not considering robbery, hacking or cheating the security system of the place to gain their way or access into it. With all their strong desire for re-entering the Garden again, they still believed and agreed with Jesus Christ as the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life, for mankind to come into access with the Tree of Life in the midst of the Paradise of God.
[John 10:1, 7-10 FBV] — “I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't come in through the gate of the sheepfold but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber. So Jesus explained again, “I tell you the truth: I am the Gate of the sheep. All those who came before Me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who comes in through Me will be healed. They will be able to come and go, and find the food they need. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I've come to bring you life, life full to overflowing.
Thus, Adam and Eve walked with God after their fall, for they agreed with God without rebelling against God anymore after their one and only sin. To walk with God requires agreeing with God. Two cannot walk together except they be agreed (Amos 3:3).
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:4] —And Adam wept and wailed, and smote upon his breast, for being severed from the garden; and said to Eve:--
The fact it's said there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth does not necessarily mean there shall be tormentors or oppressors, but mean there shall be knowledge that inspires and increases sorrows, weeping and gnashing of teeth. It was the discoveries and knowledge Adam found here that plunged himself into both weeping and wailing, and no one was tormenting Adam but Adam tormenting himself by smiting his breast and was about to share with Eve the same tormenting knowledge and guilt.
It's for being severed from the Garden, and many would not know the value or worth of what they have until they have lost it and come to the realization of such knowledge and discovery that would teach them such value and worth with weeping and gnashing of teeth, without restoration.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:5] —"Why hast thou brought upon me, upon thyself, and upon our seed, so many of these plagues and punishments?"
Adam still blamed Eve for the whole plagues and sufferings of the entire race of mankind including those yet to be born. What Eve brought to Adam was the forbidden fruit, but what Adam described here was that Eve brought so many plagues and punishments upon him, upon herself and upon their descendants. Thus that one or even half forbidden fruit was regarded as so many plagues and punishments upon so many people, who did not even eat of the fruit directly.
Even so, a little fruit or seed can be amply magnificent and multiplied in impact for good or evil. Beware of the harvest of certain fruits and seeds.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:6] —And Eve said unto him, "What is it thou hast seen, to weep and to speak to me in this wise?"
No woman would appreciate her husband speaking to her in that way, and accusing or blaming her for all the misfortunes the befall all human beings on earth. Even if that was true she's the cause of all the plagues and punishments befalling all mankind that ever walk the earth, she do not need her husband reminding her of that each time he wept because she's already heartbroken seeing him weeping and suffering because of her doings.
However, Eve wisely inquired from her husband what he had seen or newly discovered to warrant his new weeping and throwing accusation jabs at her. Remember the more they discovered such knowledge that increased their sorrow for what they have lost, the more they wept for it. And see Eve asking to know the same knowledge that got Adam both weeping, tormenting himself and tormenting her with accusing jabs. She asked him what he had seen, and instead her of sharing her blame with him in defense, she would rather share his discovery/knowledge with him in humility of sharing his pains rather than pushing her own pains to him.
Have you seen such woman who is been accused of bringing badlucks and evil to man's family, and she rather sought more knowledge, vision or understanding of even those accusing her? Such is a humble woman, who takes in alot of things, and would not dish out evil back in revenge.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:7] —And he said to Eve, "Seest thou not this water that was with us in the garden, that watered the trees of the garden, and flowed out thence?
Obviously, Adam was faster in discerning and recognizing than Eve, as an average man is than average woman or a cock is more alert than a hen. But a gentleman would gently teach and lead his woman into understanding and perceiving things she couldn't. Therefore, husband should dwell with knowledge when dwelling with his wife [1 Peter 3:7]. The woman should have a husband she can learn from.
[1 Corinthians 14:35] — "And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:8] —"And we, when we were in the garden, did not care about it; but since we came to this strange land, we love it, and turn it to use for our body."
The water watered the garden, not mankind in the garden. It was the garden that needed that water, and then the earth after the garden needed even the remnants of the water or rivers. But before the fall of mankind, mankind was way above the use of that water and did not even cared about the water when caring for the garden.
But behold the same water have been used by the garden and part of the earth, which have tapped the waters current; and yet the water in its used state and at the point where it parted into four rivers outside the Garden, have become what the fallen mankind loved and drank of and bathe in.
When the Water was a Pure Water or Virgin in the Garden, mankind did not even have need for it. But here, after the garden had taken the virginity and innocence of the water, and at the verge of the water becoming four body counts or four river heads about to go into the whole world to wet more lands that would tap her and drink of her, that's when the fallen mankind was even considering the water as gift and trophy for their survival.
[1 ADAM+EVE 9:9] — But when Eve heard these words from him, she wept; and from the soreness of their weeping, they fell into that water; and would have put an end to themselves in it, so as never again to return and behold the creation; for when they looked upon the work of creation, they felt they must put an end to themselves.
There was a time when the entire human beings on earth would have committed suicide. I have heard of people who in attempt to commit suicide or kill themselves, jumped into the deep sea or into lagoon. But Adam and Eve here we're the first to jump and remain inside river in a suicidal attempt to kill themselves because they were fed up of living and seeing things as they appear after their fall.
The guilt and regret was just too much for them to bear.
Nevertheless, because Adam and Eve continued to live with all those pains and regrets, even to the extent of living to the age of 930 years without killing themselves, they have fulfilled a major course for God and mankind on earth. Thanks to Adam and Eve who survived and endure life, Human race did not go into extinction. And even when Cain killed Abel, leaving only Cain as a man and a cursed man on earth, Adam and Eve still outlived that and had to reproduce another man on earth for the survival of human race.
Please, do not commit suicide, survive and live for the sake of the Son of man, Jesus Christ the Lord.
