Love, Mercy and Goodness, between God and Adam |
1 ADAM+EVE - CHAPTER 25
[25:1]BUT God knew that Adam had in his thoughts, that he should often kill himself and make an offering to Him of his blood.
[25:2] Therefore did He say unto him, "O Adam, do not again kill thyself as thou didst, by throwing thyself down from that mountain."
[25:3] But Adam said unto God, "It was in my mind to put an end to myself at once, for having transgressed Thy commandments, and for my having come out of the beautiful garden; and for the bright light of which Thou hast deprived me; and for the praises which poured forth from my mouth without ceasing, and for the light that covered me.
[25:4] "Yet of Thy goodness, O God, do not away with me altogether; but be favourable to me every time I die, and bring me to life.
[25:5] "And thereby it will be made known that Thou art a merciful God, who willest not that one should perish; who lovest not that one should fall; and who dost not condemn any one cruelly, badly, and by whole destruction."
[25:6]Then Adam remained silent.
[25:7]And the Word of God came unto him, and blessed him, and comforted him, and covenanted with him, that He would save him at the end of the days determined upon him.
[25:8] This, then, was the first offering Adam made unto God; and so it became his custom to do.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:1]
BUT God knew that Adam had in his thoughts, that he should often kill himself and make an offering to Him of his blood.
The Lord God knew the zeal Adam had in offering himself to God, who even determined killing himself often to please God in his offerings to God. This was greater than the widow's mites. How much extra can a man do for his sins to be forgiven, seeing he loved so much?
[Luke 7:47-48] — "Therefore I tell you, because her many sins have been forgiven, she has loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.” Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”"
Whoever will lose his life for the Lord shall find it, and whoever loves the Lord to degrees of hating himself to love the Lord more shall find the Lord.
[Luke 14:26-27] — "“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters— yes, even his own life— he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple."
[Revelation 12:11 BSB] — "They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death."
[1 Adam+Eve 25:2]
Therefore did He say unto him, "O Adam, do not again kill thyself as thou didst, by throwing thyself down from that mountain."
The Lord prevented Adam from further killing himself as he once did by throwing himself down from the mountain. You may recall the Lord also instructed Abraham not to further kill his only begotten son, Isaac, as soon as the Lord had confirmed Abraham loved/feared God to degrees of offering his own son that he valued above his own life, in offering to God.
Adam and Abraham established and offered their love for God above their own lives. Your Love is better than Life.
Satan was not even asking the Lord Jesus to throw Himself down from that height to prove His love for God, but instead was asking Him to do so to prove Himself as the Son of God to the world. Satan was trying to build pride of life or accolades of people's praises into the Lord Jesus Christ by that temptation. But the Lord Jesus was not seeking men's praises/pride.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:3]
But Adam said unto God, "It was in my mind to put an end to myself at once, for having transgressed Thy commandments, and for my having come out of the beautiful garden; and for the bright light of which Thou hast deprived me; and for the praises which poured forth from my mouth without ceasing, and for the light that covered me.
Adam confessed his motive and intention of putting an end to himself at once, as compensation for his transgression against God's Commandment and for those glorious treasures and grace he lost. Losing those glorious treasures and grace were far more loses than losing his life and dying.
He who has tasted and come to know or value true heavenly treasures and grace, would either sell or sacrifice all that he has to gladly inherit those heavenly treasures and grace. Do not gain this world and lose your soul or lose those heavenly treasures and grace that are eternal and priceless.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:4]
"Yet of Thy goodness, O God, do not away with me altogether; but be favourable to me every time I die, and bring me to life.
The "Garden of God" cast away Adam to die, but the "Goodness of God" never cast away Adam even when Adam was dead; for the Goodness of God will always bring Adam back to life whenever Adam died. Behold,"The Resurrection of Adam from the dead" is stronger than "the death of Adam" for God is Good and His Mercy endures forever.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:5]
"And thereby it will be made known that Thou art a merciful God, who willest not that one should perish; who lovest not that one should fall; and who dost not condemn any one cruelly, badly, and by whole destruction."
All these virtues of God's Goodness and Mercy must first be proven in the First Man and First Woman, before other subsequent men and women. If He did those in Adam and Eve, then He does so to all mankind who are descendants; but if He did not do or show those virtues towards Adam and Eve, then there are questions of Him possessing those Qualities towards mankind. Therefore, Adam and Eve were first partakers of the Grace and Goodness of God in the Lord Jesus Christ.
By how God dealt with Adam and Eve who were the first sinners among men, we know God's attitude and magnanimity toward sinners and fallen men. We know these four extra ordinary virtues of God towards sinners:
*1* God is Merciful,
*2* God is not willing that any man or woman should perish,
*3* God has no pleasure/love in the fall of any man or woman,
*4* God does not condemn anyone cruelly, badly or by full destruction.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:6]
Then Adam remained silent.
While God was hearing and listening to Adam, he completed his speech about declaring God's Goodness and Mercy towards sinners and offenders by God's dealings with Adam and Eve after their fall. The silence was not by interruption but by conclusion.
Then Adam remained silent. By silent, he shut the mouth and activities for quietude and opened the waiters and the hearers to receive God's answer.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:7]
And the Word of God came unto him, and blessed him, and comforted him, and covenanted with him, that He would save him at the end of the days determined upon him.
To Adam came the Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, andBlessed Adam again outside the Garden, andComforted Adam, and entered into New Covenant with Adam with the promise of Salvation at the end of his days. He had been raising Adam from the dead, but He wanted to save Adam and not just raise Adam back to life.
Salvation is far Greater and Better than Resurrection. He did not have to die to raise men and women from the dead, but He had to die to save them. Hence, the New Covenant in His Blood.
[1 Adam+Eve 25:8]
This, then, was the first offering Adam made unto God; and so it became his custom to do.
That was the first Offering made by man to God, and the foundation of all true offerings on the altar from any man to God. This was because, "It was Adam's first offering, but it was not Adam's last offering." Offerings to God became the first Custom and Tradition Adam and Eve established for all mankind on the ground.
