1. BUT when the merciful God saw that Satan wished to kill Adam with his manifold devices, and saw that Adam was meek and without guile, God spake unto Satan in a loud voice, and cursed him.
However, when God, who is full of mercy, observed Satan's intention to harm Adam through various cunning schemes, and recognized Adam's innocence and simplicity, God addressed Satan with resounding voice and placed a curse on him.
2. Then he and his hosts fled, and Adam and Eve remained standing on the top of the mountain, whence they saw below them the wide world, high above which they were. But they saw none of the host which anon were by them.
Subsequently, he and his hosts hastily departed, while Adam and Eve remained on the summit of the mountain, overlooking the expansive world below them, which seemed to be far beneath their elevated vantage point. However, they were unable to catch sight of any of the host that had just been present with them.
3. They wept, both Adam and Eve, before God, and begged for forgiveness of Him.
Tears streamed down Adam and Eve's faces as they knelt before God, their hearts burdened with regret and sorrow. With quivering voices, they pleaded for His mercy and forgiveness, knowing that they had strayed from His will and violated His trust.
4. Then came the Word from God to Adam, and said unto him, "Know thou and understand concerning this Satan, that he seeks to deceive thee and thy seed after thee."
Once again, the Word of God reached Adam, delivering this message: "Take heed and comprehend, for Satan is intent on deceiving you and your descendants."
5. And Adam wept before the Lord God, and begged and entreated Him to give him something from the garden, as a token to him, wherein to be comforted.
Adam, with tears streaming down his face, pleaded fervently to the Lord God, earnestly asking Him for a comforting token from the garden.
6. And God looked upon Adam's thought, and sent the angel Michael as far as the sea that reaches unto India, to take from thence golden rods and bring them to Adam.
Upon observing Adam's request, God considered his thoughts and dispatched the angel Michael on a mission that extended to the vast sea reaching India. Michael was tasked with retrieving golden rods from that distant land and delivering them to Adam.
7. This did God in His wisdom, in order that these golden rods, being with Adam in the cave, should shine forth with light in the night around him, and put an end to his fear of the darkness.
God, in His wisdom, arranged for the golden rods to be in Adam's cave, enabling them to emit a luminous light during the nighttime. By doing so, God intended to dispel Adam's fear of the darkness and surround him with a comforting glow.
8. Then the angel Michael went down by God's order, took golden rods, as God had commanded him, and brought them to God.
In obedience to God's command, the angel Michael descended and retrieved the golden rods as instructed, bringing them before God.
GIFTS THAT ACCOMPANIED ADAM'S DELIVERANCE
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:1] — BUT when the merciful God saw that Satan wished to kill Adam with his manifold devices, and saw that Adam was meek and without guile, God spake unto Satan in a loud voice, and cursed him.
Here's one of the reasons the Devil was a murderer from the beginning, and had been guilty of attempting to murder all human race from the face of the earth to have the entire earth for only him and his angels.
God's merciful to human race when all the entire human race represented by Adam and Eve played into the vicious hands of Satan the devil; and at the loud rebuke and curse of God upon Satan, human race were again delivered from the hands of Satan.
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:2] — Then he and his hosts fled, and Adam and Eve remained standing on the top of the mountain, whence they saw below them the wide world, high above which they were. But they saw none of the host which anon were by them.
At the rebuke of God the merciful, Satan and his hordes of hell fled away from harming the people of God, but because the people of God had gone deep into the deception of Satan they were still trapped in a deadly position even though their enemies and adversaries had fled away from them. They still needed more intervention of God to bring them back from the ways they themselves had chosen and gone in the deception of Satan. They still continued in their own dead end because they could neither retreat nor advance from the summit or point where devil brought them. It would take God's intervention and grace to restore them.
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:3] — They wept, both Adam and Eve, before God, and begged for forgiveness of Him.
Tears streamed down Adam and Eve's faces as they knelt before God, their hearts burdened with regret and sorrow. With quivering voices, they pleaded for His mercy and forgiveness, knowing that they had strayed from His will and violated His trust.
Again, Adam and Eve wept with penitence and begged God for His forgiveness: They realized their shame and foolishness, and how much the devils have drained all their honor left.
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:4] — Then came the Word from God to Adam, and said unto him, "Know thou and understand concerning this Satan, that he seeks to deceive thee and thy seed after thee."
Once again, the Word of God reached Adam, delivering this message: "Take heed and comprehend, for Satan is intent on deceiving you and your descendants." The Devil took the fight or war more seriously than the human race, since the enmity was declared in the Garden between the Woman and the Serpent, and between their offsprings. It's not the human race that has been attacking or attempting to deceive and destroy the seed of the Serpent, but the devil has been busy both deceiving and seeking to devour/destroy the children of mankind. We have been playing defensive while Satan has been bringing the wars and battles to us, with the weapons of deceit and lies. He's a murderer and liar.
[John 8:44] — "You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:5] — And Adam wept before the Lord God, and begged and entreated Him to give him something from the garden, as a token to him, wherein to be comforted.
Adam, with tears streaming down his face, pleaded fervently to the Lord God, earnestly asking Him for a comforting token from the garden.
Adam had been driven away from the garden with things that were basically his but not belonging to the Garden: Viz, his wife and their clothing. But his mind was still in the Garden, and that resulted in his desperation that was exploited by the deceivers who acted as traveling agents able to process for them visa or entrance into the Garden. But here Adam made a wise request from God, knowing that since he could not be taken into the Garden then something from the Garden could be taken out to come and be with him as a token or earnest of the Promise of God that he and his wife will be returned into the Garden in the future.
For us here, the token we received from the Kingdom of God to show God will bring us into it is the Holy Spirit of God from the Kingdom that is dwelling with us and inside us, and basically the kingdom of God is inside us.
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:6] — And God looked upon Adam's thought, and sent the angel Michael as far as the sea that reaches unto India, to take from thence golden rods and bring them to Adam.
Upon observing Adam's request, God considered his thoughts and dispatched the angel Michael on a mission that extended to the vast sea reaching India. Michael was tasked with retrieving golden rods from that distant land and delivering them to Adam.
From Indian sea, Michael was sent to fetch golden rods for Adam as the elements of light that may abide with Adam outside the Garden till Adam is returned into the Garden again.
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:7] — This did God in His wisdom, in order that these golden rods, being with Adam in the cave, should shine forth with light in the night around him, and put an end to his fear of the darkness.
God, in His wisdom, arranged for the golden rods to be in Adam's cave, enabling them to emit a luminous light during the nighttime. By doing so, God intended to dispel Adam's fear of the darkness and surround him with a comforting glow.
Adam would therefore become "Light bearer" and given special golden lamps that do not need on oil to light, shine or glow, in the dark or night places. Such golden lamps from the Garden of Eden were "Luminescent." They were to end the fear of darkness in Adam and Eve forever, according to wisdom and goodness of God.
[1 ADAM+EVE 29:8] — Then the angel Michael went down by God's order, took golden rods, as God had commanded him, and brought them to God.
In obedience to God's command, the angel Michael descended and retrieved the golden rods as instructed, bringing them before God. Indeed, Michael the archangel had to dive into the Indian ocean where the Serpent was thrown before, and Michael sought and found the golden rods therein and fetched some to God for Adam. Remember, these golden rods were not even from the garden as Adam asked for, but they were also needed and in the next chapter you will see the other gifts God brought to Adam from the Garden of Eden as token for Adam and Eve.
