THEME:
ADAM AND EVE ATTEMPT SUICIDE
*1* THEN Adam and Eve went in search of the garden.
*2* And the heat beat like a flame on their faces; and they sweated from the heat, and wept before the Lord.
*3* But the place where they wept was nigh unto a high mountain, facing the western gate of the garden.
*4* Then Adam threw himself down from the top of that mountain; his face was torn and his flesh was flayed; much blood flowed from him, and he was nigh unto death.
*5* Meanwhile Eve remained standing on the mountain weeping over him, thus lying.
*6* And she said, "I wish not to live after him; for all that he did to himself was through me."
*7* Then she threw herself after him; and was torn and scotched by stones; and remained lying as dead.
*8* But the merciful God, who looks upon His creatures, looked upon Adam and Eve as they lay dead, and He sent His Word unto them, and raised them.
*9* And said to Adam, "O Adam, all this misery which thou hast wrought upon thyself, will not avail against My rule, neither will it alter the covenant of the 5500 years."
[1 Adam+Eve 21:1] β THEN Adam and Eve went in search of the garden.
Though Adam and Eve lost the garden, they still went in search of the garden they lost because they missed the garden. Hence this was a "Quest."To them, it was not just a "Lost Garden" but above that it was a "Missing Garden." The difference between what is lost and what is missing is the unyielding efforts and affliction to search, to find or to recover that which was gone. These were young and attractive man and woman, who being alone together were not searching for what was neither lost nor missing between them in their bodies, but were rather searching what was missing and far more pleasurable treasures. That meant their search was for what they already knew/experienced, not for what they had not known yet. It was not a search for "Discoveries," but a search for"Recoveries" Adam and Eve made here. Nevertheless, even in search for Recoveries, people make Discoveries of what they had not known or seen well before. Search begets Research.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:2] β And the heat beat like a flame on their faces; and they sweated from the heat, and wept before the Lord.
A discovery they found or knew on their way in search of the garden was heating and harsh temperature from the sun that forced both "Sweat" and "Tears" from their faces and bodies. They were not searching for these, but they discovered or suffered them. Remember they had been discovering things like the river from the Garden, the great 5500 years Covenant of God to man, the Darkness and Sun from the East, and the Serpent from the Garden, all in their way in search of the same garden before this time, which they discovered the scourging heat was dehydrative.
In Genesis 3:19, God mentioned that in sweat of his face shall the man find food. But the man and woman were not searching for food yet when they were so much sweating on their faces. This caused them to weep and shed tears, and the place where they wept was in the presence of God.
God had since ancient days watched Mankind wept before Him, even the Sons of God had wept before God in heat and travail.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:3] β But the place where they wept was nigh unto a high mountain, facing the western gate of the garden.
That place where they wept was two places distinct places at the same time and place:
*1* That place where they wept was before the Lord or in the Presence of God; and,
*2* That place where they wept was before the Western Gate to the Garden of Eden, out of which they were driven from the Garden and Cherub with flaming sword mounted there.
It became like their altar or church temple place of worship to God, and place for offering sacrifice or offering. That's where Abel's offering was accepted but Cain's offering rejected. And when Cain was driven away from the presence of God into the land of Nod, Cain was forever separated from that western Gate to the Garden of Eden.
Behold, though Adam and Eve were out of the Garden of God, they were not out of the Presence of God. They still retained the Presence of God forever though they lost the garden of God temporarily.
And there was a High Mountain always facing the Presence of God. The High Mountain itself was not bearing the presence of God as Mount Sinai (Horeb) or Mount Zion, but the High Mountain was facing the Presence of God by facing the Western Gate just as Daniel would face Jerusalem while praying through opened window of his room.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:4] β Then Adam threw himself down from the top of that mountain; his face was torn and his flesh was flayed; much blood flowed from him, and he was nigh unto death.
Be careful against the temptation or urge to throw yourself from a high place down to the ground when you in the presence of God or at His Temple Place, especially when you presume God's angels would catch you before you hit ground as the Eagles would throw their youngs from high place and before those youngs hit the ground those eagles would catch or bear them up, while training the young how to fly. You already know I would cite this:
[Matthew 4:5-7] β "Then the devil took Him to the holy city and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple. βIf You are the Son of God,β he said, βthrow Yourself down. For it is written: βHe will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.ββ Jesus replied, βIt is also written: βDo not put the Lord your God to the test.ββ"
Adam cast himself down from the high mountain at the presence of God, and no angel was sent to bear him from hurt his feet, his flesh and his face against the stones. Don't you dare cast yourself down in the presence of God as the fallen angels, unless you are casting down yourself in worship or adoration to God as the Twenty Four Elders. Know the difference between casting down for God and casting down for the Presence of God.
Those three direct temptations of the Lord Jesus by the Devil without using people to get to the Lord Jesus, all had something to do with Stones:
*1*One was about commanding Stones as the Son of God, or may come to us as "Commanding Mountain to move by faith."
*2*One was about falling down on stones from high place, or may come to us asWalking over stones carelessly without watching or without light, thinking we shall not stumble because he or she believes God's angels are there to prevent that.
Though angels can indeed keep you from stumbling or falling on stones, yet better for you to use the Light (watchfulness) God provided than using the angels God provided to keep you from stumbling or falling on stones. As it is written,
[John 11:9-10] β "Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him."
*3*One was about Jesus Christ bowing down on stones or ground to worship the devil in exchange for a promise of having whole political powers, kingdoms, glories and riches, of this world. This may come to us having a heart of stone or having souls stuck forever inside stone or earth, never for such soul to ascend into heaven away from the stones and earth, in exchange for the pleasures, treasures, glories and riches, of this world. That is, having a mind (head) pinned to the stone/earth (bowing down to the ground) towards the offering of the Devil, as Jesus was "tempted but attempted" to do.
Get behind me Satan! I will worship and serve only God above with my head mind/affection on Him above, not on earthly things.
[Colossians 3:1-3] - "Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."
[1 Adam+Eve 21:5] β Meanwhile Eve remained standing on the mountain weeping over him, thus lying.
There were times and moments when all the men in the world were fallen, and only woman remained standing on the mountain. How those happened was, not by the woman pushing the man to fall for only her to remain standing. It was not a feminist movement or triumphal over the the male. Infact, as Eve remained standing on the mountain from which all the man had fallen, she was weeping over him and not rejoicing him, while she beheld him lying below.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:6] β And she said, "I wish not to live after him; for all that he did to himself was through me."
There are still places in this world where the wife/widow is to blame for the death of her husband who died prematurely or untimely after being with her. Behold, Eve had no one blaming her for her husband's fall, but yet she took the responsibility as if she was the one who pushed him really hard till he fell or crashed.
According to her here,"All that he did to himself was through me." Many women have manipulated their men or husbands into doing all they do either through those women or because of those women. Those men are practically living and doing everything to please or impress such over influencing women, and they do not realize they are enslaved by their wives or women in their lives, including mothers or sisters. Either by praises or by pressures, such women sure have ways of making men do all they do for them or through them. And the irony of it all is that most times those men who are subjected to doing all they do because of their wives or women, are not necessarily doing so out of love for those women or for their love towards them. It's irony that a man could be under such pressure to please his women, and women too be under pressure to please their men, yet deep down both parties know they do not love themselves though they do all they do just to please, impress, those who really don't care about them.
Here was Eve, the first woman, confessing she pushed the first man too hard by getting him to do all he did because of her. But she also made the same statement she had upheld before,"I do not wish to live after him." By this she implied she must not remain a Widow. She refused to be a Widow, and had no pleasure of living on if her husband died.Would you not respect Eve or Eva? She was never single before marriage, and she would never be widow after marriage: She was the Foundation of Marriage together with Adam in the beginning.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:7] β Then she threw herself after him; and was torn and scotched by stones; and remained lying as dead.
Eva meant it when she said she does not which to live after him, and she rather died with him than live after him; she would be where he is, even in death.
Don Moen sang,"I just want to be where You are, dwelling daily in Your Presence." But for Eve, choosing between the Presence of God and the death of Adam, she chose to die the death of Adam her husband rather than dwelling on the High Mountain or dwelling in the Presence of God. What a woman?
Where's that man that said "Woman is the Second Mistake God made in creation after Satan as first Mistake"? Our assessment of Eve had been clouded, and behold she was a perfect woman and wife after her mistake at the Serpent's deception. Though her name, Eva or Eve, meant "Mother of Living" she was the first living soul that had no fear of death, which was why she was first to approach the forbidden Tree despite the threat of death by God's Commandment attached to the Tree; and though Adam did not touch the tree to take the fruit directly from the tree, Eve had the mind to go nearer and take the fruit from the tree and give to her husband after she herself ate of it first so that if there was anything death or poison inside the fruit let it kill her first.
And here she was not afraid of dying or leaping into a terrific accident, not minding she just saw how her neighbor just had his.
I know the scriptures required the man to lay down his life for the wife, but Eve thought us that wives or women could also be made conformable to the death of their Lords or husbands.
-
*Eve saw her husband died because of her, and she gave up her willingness to living, that she might die with him and fellowship with his suffering and death.
-
* Rebekah saw her husband trekking while she was on high Camel as Eve was on high mountain, and Rebekah came down and walked or trekked to go be with him.
-
* Then the greatest Lord God Himself came and died because of us, and all we did was to go on living for ourselves and using His death to lay claims to prosperity through His Poverty, lay claims to healing through His Stripes, lay claims to protection and forgiveness through His Blood shed for us, etc.
But Paul was a different kind of Christian, and went to share in the cross, in the death, in the suffering, in the afflictions, in resurrection and fellowship of Christ his Lord. Paul did not use the death or price the Lord Jesus Christ paid for Paul's personal benefits. Paul did not try to become rich through Christ's poverty, rather Paul used his own poverty to make many people rich[2 Corinthians 6:10], as Christ did, for Paul was doing so much as Christ in fellowshiping with the Sufferings and Death of Christ.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:8] β But the merciful God, who looks upon His creatures, looked upon Adam and Eve as they lay dead, and He sent His Word unto them, and raised them.
Well, God is merciful to them, and He sent the Word of God, who raised those who committed suicide. Such mercy is not common, that someone would kill himself or herself, and God would mercifully send His Word to raise and heal them. He did not give His Word to angels as charge to keep Adam and Eve from hurting themselves against the stones; but He gave His Word to raise them from the dead after they self Terminated themselves by themselves.
[1 Adam+Eve 21:9] β And said to Adam, "O Adam, all this misery which thou hast wrought upon thyself, will not avail against My rule, neither will it alter the covenant of the 5500 years."
The same Word of God that raised them up from the dead also spoke to them.
Was it not the same die God used to warn them about the forbidden Tree in the Garden? Obviously the man and woman were not scared of dying anymore, seeing they attempted suicide over again but God kept bringing them back to live their days. If the punishment for eating the forbidden fruit was just dying alone as God initially warned, Adam and Eve would have borne that without much stress. For dying in the garden was also pleasurable. But their punishment was banishment from the Garden for 5,500 years. That was worse than death to Adam and Eve. They never anticipated the aspect of getting shut out of the Garden of heaven for those length of years. Neither did the fallen angels knew they would never again enter heaven after their adventure. Not easy to endure sudden lost of heaven after you were dwelling there. It's more painful than dying physically. No wonder the devils are so angry for losing their place in heaven.
See, the Mercy of God brought them back to life, but did not bring them back into heaven or the Garden of Eden until the 5,500 years Covenant rule (Judgment) of God was accomplished. Mercy may triumph over Judgment, but Mercy does not change Judgment when Judgment is set, no matter the self afflictions or miseries one brings upon himself.
